About this policy
Jandakot Pharmacy (“we”, “us”) looks after your personal and health information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This page explains, in plain English, what we collect, why, who sees it and how you can access or correct it.
What we collect
We only ask for what we need to look after you:
- Send a script form: your name and mobile number, and if you choose to give them, your email, date of birth, Medicare number and concession details. Also your eScript link or token, a photo or screenshot of your script, the medicine you’d like, when you’ll collect it and any notes you add.
- Bookings: your name, contact details, the service you’d like, your preferred time and any health information you share so we can provide that service safely.
- In the pharmacy: the information we need to dispense medicines and provide services, as all pharmacies must.
Scripts and many of these details are health information, which the law treats as sensitive. We collect it only with your consent, or where the law allows or requires it.
Why we collect it
- To check and prepare your medicine and dispense it safely.
- To contact you about your script or booking, for example to call or email you when it’s ready.
- To provide the services you book, and to meet our legal and professional record-keeping duties.
We don’t use your information for marketing and we never sell it.
How the Send a script form works
- When you press Send, your details and any photo or file are emailed to our dispensary team at dispensary@jandakotpharmacy.com.au.
- The website doesn’t keep a copy. Uploaded files are deleted from the web server as soon as the email has been sent, and form entries aren’t saved on the site.
- Our pharmacy email is provided by Google Workspace, which may store data on servers outside Australia.
- Once we receive your script it becomes part of your pharmacy record, which we keep securely in the pharmacy.
Email isn’t completely secure. If you’d rather not send details online, call us on 08 9414 8881 or bring your script in.
Cookies and website tools
We use only the cookies the website needs to work. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and we don’t run analytics.
Like most websites, some parts load from outside services: fonts from Google Fonts, and the map from OpenStreetMap. These services can see your device’s IP address when the page loads. A hidden spam filter on our form checks for bots; it doesn’t identify you.
Who we share it with
We only share your information when we need to in order to dispense your medicine or provide your care, or when the law requires or allows it. For example:
- your doctor or another health professional involved in your care
- Medicare, the PBS, the Department of Veterans’ Affairs or other government bodies, for claims and as required by law
- the national electronic prescription and My Health Record systems, where they apply
- our trusted IT and email providers, only so they can run our systems
We don’t share your information with anyone else unless you agree.
Keeping it safe
We store records securely, limit access to staff who need it and keep records for as long as the law requires. When we no longer need information, we destroy or de-identify it securely.
Seeing or correcting your information
You can ask to see the information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it. Contact us using the details below. We’ll respond within 30 days, and we may need to confirm who you are first. If we can’t give you access, we’ll explain why.
You can also deal with us without giving your name for general questions, but we need your details to dispense medicine or book a service.
